Happy Reunions Ahead
One of the most amazing aspects of having a personal relationship with God is knowing that when we die we’ll see all those other people who have that same relationship with God.
In just two days, on Oct. 13, Judy and I will mark the 31st anniversary of our Mickey’s death. How often I have wondered what she experienced when she took her last breath here on earth and took her first eternal breath in heaven? Who was there to greet her? Obviously, Jesus was there! As the source of her personal relationship with God, I know he was there to welcome her home.
Who has she greeted since her death? I know she’s met some grandparents. I believe she met my younger brother when he passed away this past summer. She’s met great people found in the Bible, and even greater people who have lived and died in unknown places.
The image with this blog says it all. When Mickey died I know Judy and I looked at each other and thought, “she’s gone.” But on the other side I can’t help but know there were those who were saying, “here she comes everyone!”
Each day that passes here I know is one day closer for my reunion with my Mickey and scores of other believers that I have known in my early journey. I can’t wait to hear Mickey’s voice again. I can’t wait to hear her laugh and see her smile as I look around in the wonder of heaven that she has been experiencing for nearly 31 years now. What a moment that will be.
If you’re reading this and you just don’t have that assurance of your standing before God the Bible says that we simply have to call on the name of Jesus to be saved. As someone reminded me recently the only thing we bring to the moment of salvation is our sins and our need for saving. So call out to Jesus today. I want to be able to see and greet you down the road.
